“For me, getting to Black Diamond was an encounter with myself, talking about myself and my origins, about my roots, knowing who I was and the capacity within me: today I know that I have an identity. All human beings are afraid of change, but we don’t know fear until we live it. I am now a full, leading and committed woman. I am part of the Black Diamond team. I currently share my knowledge with indigenous women and men from my town. As the Greek philosopher Socrates says “I only know that I know nothing” and that opens a path before me without limitations.”
Acela was born on December 6, 1974 in Altos del Camarón, State of Guerrero. She left her hometown at age 13 in search of a better life and as part of the great migration boom from Acapulco, Guerrero.
She studied in Mexico City, where she obtained a certification in Traditional Medicine from the University of Chapingo. Today she has three children. She likes research concerning the origin of man and his relationship with nature,
“I like contact with people, listen to them, believe in love, I am a woman dedicated to what I do. For me, the most important thing is the well-being of my patient and those around him.”
She comes from a family of healers: her grandmother cured of bone pains with aromatic oils that she herself .
